Mods I'm sticking this in multiple areas so it gets as much attention as possible, I hope that's ok.

There is currently a gang operating in the Northants area stealing Land Rovers using trucks with hi abs, it seems they are currently working there way down the county. The majority of the thefts so far have been 110s but I'd recommend that owners of other Land Rovers stay wary.

A couple of the guys that have had their P&J stolen have noted that they were approached by some men a couple of weeks prior to the theft asking if they wanted to sell.

Stay alert guys.

Thanks for that. Some friends of ours had their classic Range Rover stolen yesterday from the Rushden area apparently by a similar method. The wheels were stolen and it was dumped in the lake at Skew Bridge with substantial damage including the roof having been caved in by what looks like a JCB bucket!!! There are some arses out there!!

I've seen photos of that, it's amazing the number of scrotes there are out there that will ruin your stuff for no reason other than they felt like it.

Heard the owner got the wheels back though?

Yes. I think word of mouth got through to the right people and somebody felt guilty or scared and returned them - I think someone's still going to get a visit in the night though!!!

Sorry to hear that, hope you get it back.

Just a quick update, some parts from a couple of the stolen vehicles were found on ebay, so it seems they are being stripped. The police are investigating.

Sorry to hear about this - the little bds should be hung up by their tiny bits!!

I've been trying to think of ways of making mine more secure but short of chaining it to a concrete block I'm failing miserably. The trouble is, if you make it look too secure, they will be more determined to nick it as they think it's worth more - then they'll break into your house looking for the keys!!mad

It was locked, alarmed and imobilised.

You do what you can. My guess was they dragged it onto a low loader and will strip it. Police have called to say they have not seen it on any ANPR cameras and don't hold your breath. The reall bh is I had my off roading gear in there and 2 tool boxes as I had been working on it. So have also lost my hilift, handheld cb couple of maglites, a set of good tools built up over the last 20 years, my Berghaus walking boots, my Hunter wellies etc.

Have compiled a list and just makes me even more hacked off.

When I think of all the effort I have put in getting it sorted to just how I wanted. On the plus side I had been about to buy a winch for it but bought a FFRR instead, which was parked next to it. But having bought the FFRR I now wont have the funds to get another Defender and get it set up as I like.

May have a set of off road tyres and a brand new snorkel up for sale soon frown
