John,

I will be there on Sunday. I think Ceri is attending the Tunnel Run (titts 5) and i am not sure if others are too? I think we really could do with changing the venue for the Herts / Beds meet, Tudor Oaks is a dive. If anyone is up for a run, then i dont mind taking the lead and doing a similar route to the one we done recently in Bedfordshire!

I will be there but coming down from Bedford.I also agree with Dan and think it is time for a new venue somewhere more appropriate and a bit more upmarket

Dan - how about the White Horse in Southill? They have a large car park and do good food and beer, though may be a little too far on the edge.
Enjoy anyway - I'm off to Scotland Saturday for the PH Highland tour and I believe they currebtly have snow on the roads up there, should be interesting as my rear tyres are almost due for replacement!

As has been mentioned sooooo many times before, it is easy to critise the venue and in many ways you are correct but without suggesting an alternative that has been at least approached to see if they will accept 30+ TVR's turning up on a Sunday lunchtime, spending next to nowt over the bar, not taking advantage of the food sales etc. etc. we will end up at the Tudor Oaks again.

Dan please talk to me or John on Sunday if you have any alternatives. That applies to anyone really. I also dont think random suggestions on this forum is the way to go, as said please talk to me or John, our numbers are listed in the back of the TVRCC magazine Sprint.

Once someone puts forward a suggestion that has at least had some initial approach to the owners, I will take it forward and go and see and meet and finalise any arrangements for a switch in Venue.

In the meantime, enjoy the run in, and see you at the meet.

ps

Can anyone who is going to lead a run in have a chat with either of us, we learnt some interesting stuff at the AGM.

If I have said something to upset you Dan be asssured it wasnt intentional. We have had lots of moans about the venue and once the subject is aired again I will always take the oppurtunity to ask for alternatives. There is nothing sinister about the run in information either, it is about keeping it safe and legal nothing more but I dont want to post the details on an open non club forum. Please feel free to give me a call. I cant call you as I have lost the database sheet with your number on it.

Cheers

I have to say though, that people will spend money over the bar if they want to go into the bar. If the food is good, people will also spend money on that too I'm sure.

It is not easy to please everyone - however, I have to agree that there is room for improvement. As everyone likes driving to and from the Meet - then it doesn't really matter where it is as long as it's within region. It will always be close for some and further for others tongue out.

Happy to discuss other possibilities on Sunday smile

It is impossible to please everyone, however I'm sure we are all grateful for the behind-the-scenes efforts the organisers put in to arrange venues for us all in the first place.clap

With regard to possible future venues, perhaps a pub is not the "ideal" meeting place as some of us will not even have a 1/2 pint whilst driving, and to order a meal to appease the landlord would mean missing out on the chats etc. in the car park.
Maybe somewhere like a supermarket or motorway services, or even a municipal car park, would be less demanding on the organisers but still provide ample parking, refreshments and toilets (important for those of us past a certain age hehe)
See you tomorrow. Stuart
