I'm looking for a 2006 Volante, and to be honest my budget and target figure is under £60k

Seems to be a few about, even from main dealer so thankfully what car are not realistic.

That was the point of the thread, that What Car are not realistic ..... you can pick one up for £50k sans warranty but a nice one with warranty and sport pack wheels etc Im hoping will go for mid 50`s

What Car and general rags are very rarely on the button with pricing. I'd never be inclined to take them as gospel.

Just playing devil's advocate, but you're expecting to get circa 10k over the "trade in" price...?

I guess a dealer may offer you more than 45k for the car if it's genuinely a top example (not suggesting it isn't smile). And private punters may not offer mid-50s. So the gap may ultimately not be 10k.

Then you have to pay to get it prep'd. And spend your time handling it.

Then you have to spend time advertising it properly.

Then you have to deal with the general public. Tyre kickers, chancers, test pilots etc.

Assuming you get a good bite, you'll get that person wanting to kick you in the nuts royally on price. They'll tell you exactly what's available at dealers, why your car should be 20k less than the cheapest dealer car etc. And all the time, you're spending your own time dealing with it with a car sat on the drive and no funds in the bank.

You then agree the price, and have all the concerns/risks about funds coming over etc.

Some people do sell premium cars privately, but personally I think it's a massive hassle that may not net the results some would believe it should.

And any car bought from a dealer comes with a warranty (of sorts) for at least 3mths. When buying something as potentially expensive if it goes wrong as an Aston, that tends to be a big draw for a lot of buyers.

Genuine best of luck with selling it, but definitely keep all options open smile

I cant agree with Murph's attitude to selling your or any other car privately. I have always sold my cars privatly ( and purchased 90% of my vehicles privately)and have never had a problem. I sell 1 to 3 cars per year and in all that time have never had a major issue

You will have problems if you dont follow some basic rules with payment and answering D head e-mails ( I always ask people to ring me )

If your selling your car with 12 months warranty whats the problem ?

Car will have 12 / 10 months warranty, 12 / 10 months MOT and 6 / 4 months tax.

Will have a recent report from strats from next week and look $1m after Matt has worked his magic.

With the sportpack wheels, calipers and being blue with ivory its not a common car and if anyone wants a none black / grey it should be a no brainer ?
Thats my reasoning anyway, plus I dont need to sell it so can leave on sale on say ebay for the whole summer.

I sold a near £30k car in Feb on pistonheads no hassle its given me confidence .....

I'd suggest that doesn't make you your run of the mill chap flogging his motor then...are you sure you're not a trader smile

I have no doubt whatsoever that a lot of people sell cars privately without hassle (though I would still venture that the amount doing so where the cars are 50k+ is more rare). Equally I have no doubt that a lot of people sell cars privately and have real headaches.

What I was trying to point out is that the apparently huge margin dealers appear to make is not always down to crackpot profit margins smile

The car in question sounds lovely btw.

Looks better than the vid as it has the old 10 spoke wheels and the old silver calipers on in the vid.
Its now (as of today) just come back from OFF YOUR MARKS and looks exactly like the vid - no swirls and heavy Zymol Royal protected.
My info is in my profile (via my website you get email and phone info on the site) if you want to come and see it, note its in strats from tuesday for a few days I guess
