Z4M Roadster issues!
Discussion
I bought a Z4MR just under 2 months ago, absolutely love it. The power, noise and the fun when you turn off the ASC!
However just after I got it the engine warning light came on, turned out an exhaust emission sensor had packed in. I was out the country for a month with work and got it replaced under warranty when I got back. Dealer messed up the order for the part so got a new Z4 to run about in for 2 days!
Since I got her back shes been misfiring, pulling away from standstill the revs will die and you have to be really quick with the clutch or she stalls. Very poor pick up from low speeds aswell.
Back to the dealers today, no fault codes but the elctrical system needs to be reset. They had to contact BMW to get a code of some sort to do this. So dropped mine off and got the same new Z4 I had previously! They need the car for the whole day tomorrow to reset everything hoping that this will clear the problem! Has anybody else heard of this?
Car is a 1 owner 2006 model with 20k miles.

The courtesy car, really nice to drive and I love the looks but wheezy engine is pretty gutless.

Col they have botched the sensor replacement or they've not got the right one.
Mine, same age, has had 3 by 38k miles - finally led to BMW garage bringing it in and calling in advice from Germany via HQ as I stamped by foot, hard!
The rough start etc and lumpy idle were similar problems. The service schedule includes a replacement of the items at 100K ... to be honest I don't know why unless they suspect it has fixed term lifespan. There are hundreds of reports of O2 sensor issues (along with cracking rear spings) the burden ot be bourne.
Have to say since the last thorough fix and replacement of the O2 sensors on my car it has been fine. at 47K and due in for inspection II in ten days.

there is a pair of sensors, pre and post cat, for cylinders 1-3 and 4-6. So if garage is careless reading codes or mechanic doesn't pick the right one.... you get problem not being resolved in one visit.
and amazingly given the numbers that are going most garages don't seem to stock the part, which I reckon is a slight moneymaking ruse as a lot of cars are either on original or extended warranty and so it requires a seconf visit the garage for the work after diagnosis... a couple of extra hours labour there, nice.

Had mine replaced last Friday,at 5k miles.
When i arrived to pick it up it wasnt running right, was ticking over but wouldnt rev apparently.
So off i went with the courtesy car, only for them to sort it out 20 mins later.
The fault was with the diagnostic machine, when they used a different one it set up ok..
seems fine since.

Been back into the dealers today as the revs are still dropping when pulling away, not all the time but quite often.
Mechanic came out with me and while he was driving it hesitated twice at low revs in 2nd gear.
No faults are showing on the diagnostics, he thinks it may have something to do with slack in the dual flywheels but the only way to tell is to take the gearbox out!
They are contacting BMW UK to see what they say.

I think you must have misheard the technician, as there is only one flywheel albeit a twin mass flywheel (i.e. is uses different weights in different parts of the flywheel to dampen vibrations and such).
You may have slack in the fork springs, or even a blockage/narrowing of the CDV (unless it's been removed - which you could try anyway).
