Speedo transducer:

Mine went recently too. Allow an hour to replace it, although if your handy with the tools, it'll take you less. It took me about 40 mins start to finish.

Any pointers as to how you locate and replace the wire connectors on this? Have the replacement sitting on my to-do list for ages - the actual transducer on the diff looks straight forward but cannot locate the other end!!! Any pointers would be make me feel brave enough to attempt it at least - cheers!!

Rear passengerside, next to diff. 2 wires comming off the unit. Doesn't matter which way round they are connected. I soldered mine onto the existing wiring loom and made use of the existing plug. Tracing the wiring back around the back end of the car and up over the top of the passenger side exhaust in the cable trunking and through the boot floor was the hardest bit. From memory, you'll need 2 x 17mm (or were they 19mm?) spanners to get the bracket off which the transducer is held on by.If you search the forum, some great pics and instructions already on this forum.

Cheers L33, will give it a go, certainly either wire reconnection makes it almost numpti-proof for me! Have noted in the past some pics showing the wire travel but recent searches did not bring them up.
As for the wire, I soldered the cable end of the new unit to the transducer end of the old uit under the car and then pulled the wire from the inside the boot. I Pulled all the wiring up through the boot - firstly the old wire, followed by the soldered joint and then new wire. Next I cut the joint I had soldered and cut off any excess wire from the old sensor and then resoldered - does this make sense? You'll need to remove:
1. The rubber window seal around the lower edge of your boot
2. The tyre weld locating box - from memory, 2 self tappers,
3. The leather trim piece that goes along the rear of the boot the width of the car - 2 self tappers either side of the boot trim piece that secure it to the boot floor and also the luggage cover retaining pins and the whole trim section will come away with a bit of effort.
4. Remove the carpet covered GRP box section that is moulded around the petrol filler pipe. From memory this was held in by 2 or 3 self tappers - look closely and you'll spot them.
Refitting is reversal of removal.

I posted this sometime ago, hope it is of use.
Speedo Sensor Here we go
Speedo Sensor- Adjustment/Removal/replacement (sag v similar all T cars)
Part no. M1889
To gain access to the Speedo Sensor the car ideally needs to be on a ramp. (jack possibly)
Remove the left NS rear wheel. to see the sensor
The sensor can be seen at the right of the drive shaft, horizontal to the toothed diff output.

View from underneath the car, (exhausts removed on photo)

Clean with WD40 set to max 1mm gap
The sensor is best left, complete on the bracket then removed.
View from rear

Alternatively, remove locknuts, follow the blue cable through to the rear inner wheel arch where it enters the body.
The hatch trim top rail and then the left NS trim panel needs to be removed.
Unplug in the inner wheel arch and prise out the wires and sheath from the connector block.
Pull the new sensor wire through, without cutting back the wire.
Remake the connector and re fit the sensor and bracket.
Alternatively cut off at 200mm long from plug then cut back new by 200mm and join with soldered heatshrink joint or sealed connector block.
Check with the ignition on the speedo needle reads zero.
If the needle requires adjustment, select factory settings on POD menu 8; select the mph zero and adjust up or down until the needle is set and save the changes.

Hi all this is my first post on PH.
As to the speedo sensor issue, I replaced mine earlier this year and you can get the part from RS components for around £23-£25 quite a bit cheaper than the specialists!
Regards
Matt.

Whats the RS part number? this would be useful if the RS part is suitable as the TVR spare is about £70! I would guess it may even be the same part

Did you know the RS part number? Looks like the dealers are now charging £99!
Cheers.
Mick
Anybody know if this will do the job, £18 v £99, worth asking.
Cheers

No.
I tried several types when developing this and found that the cheap sensors are cheap for a reason in that they either need additional electronics to make the interfaces compatible and/or they were simply not good enough to cope with detecting all the teeth, all of the time. In other words, the sensor would work up to 50/60 mph but no more.
