What's the material on the hard top?

Does anyone know what it's made of... the cloth covering that it?... I have a blue one and want to change it to black but need to get the right Dye...
Chris52 said you can burn raggy threads with a lighter and they shrink back, so does this indicate a type of Nylon weave.. I thought it was Morhair myself but the dye I've tried for this material does not appear to key right and you can get it off again??

Hi ,

Not sure what the material is,but...

my blue roof has been dyed with renovo black dye at least twice now (once by me)and although it can fade a bit over time it doesn't come off ( eg, when washed etc).

renovo available from ACT and others.

Soz if this what have already used!

Hi... no, not tried this... but have see a couple of top's done with Renovo... and it appears to introduce a metalic type appearance to the material....
I'm not doing my back section or normal hard top... just the now 'Blue' one I have as I intend to split it longer term... But want to try colour it first.... It I can't get it to work then I'll either re-cover it in black or remove the fabric and paint it.... But there must be something out there that will dye it, after all you can Dye nylon carpets etc...

renovo drys matt.

Shiny roof syndrome "usually" due to roof rubbing against fuel tank carpet when stowed in boot,or depends on what if any waterproofing agent is applied after.

Mmmmm okay.. may give it a try.... but will it change the colour... it's just ment to refresh the black... not change it from blue?? Obviously yours has done it okay??
