Forgive my ignorance but doesn't a wildlife photo have to capture the "wildlife" of the region, animals that actually live there?

They are essentially studio shots.

Still nice though.

A bit OT but if you're in Edinburgh then take a wander to St Andrew's Square. There's an outdoor exhibition of some of Steve Bloom's wildlife photos. I've seen most of them before but seeing them in a big size makes them rather nice to look at.
I believe they are only there until the 16th though so there isn't much time left to catch them.

Indeed.

It is not much different to observing the animal in a zoo.

In fact it would at least be more natural seeing a lion on the dusty mud of Chester Zoo, rather than rolling in the United States snow.

Agreed, and by co-incidence, Mrs telford_mike did a course at Chester Zoo on Tuesday... (not a lion though!)
