oak floor what treatment?
Discussion
I've just used Osmo door oil for a set of oak doors I have had fitted.
Couldn't be happier.
I believe the content is very similar to the floor oil which is a mix of oil and wax. You lay it on and the oil brings out the grain and the wax dries to a satin finish.
The only thing I would add is after doing the first door, it does considerably darken the wood. However, also got Osmo's tints in white which put in first adds a light bleached effect to the grain of the oak, almost like a gentle 'limed' effect.
Then, when you put the oil/wax over the top to seal it, the finish did not darken and stayed light, a very similar shade to the dry wood.
The stuff is expensive, but if you are using oak, worth every penny.
