The Chimaera Wing Mirror is off a Citroen CX so should be plenty of second hand ones around. My local dealer offered to respray mine (badly chipped) for £50 so hunt around for someone prepared to respray cheaply.

You can strip down the mirror and replace the broken internal bits with a new or a used one from a scrap yard. I did this 2 weeks ago. Did not have to respray. Total cost £50 for mirror and then I spent 2 hours fitting the bloody thing, which is a bugger to get right.

thanks for that, but how did you open the mirror, ,from where? it is a plate housed in the mirror case not the body(castle fitting).
cheers vin

Vinny,
Not sure where in South East London you are, but if close to Crystal Palace FC (Selhurst park), there is a little Citreon place that deals with second hand Citreon parts.
Here is a map link, the arrow points to it. www.streetmap.co.uk/streetmap.dll?G2M?X=533283&Y=168443&A=Y&Z=1

Hope this/they can help you out.

Was at Beaulieu on Saturday & got a good closeup look at their Jag XJ220. I know it's common knowledge that this car also uses the CX mirror, but it was wierd to witness my Chimeara mirror on this car in the flesh/plastic.

You take the glass out by adjusting the mirror fully 'up' and putting something thin through the slot at the bottom. But to remove the mirror assembly from the car you need to undo a small grubscrew at the base of the mirrot assembly where it is recessed into the door. Really tight access. All described in the Griff/Chimaera bible of course.

Cheers,
Peter Humphries (and a green V8S)
