Hi

My brother is about to book a flight back from vancouver to gatwick in october that he'll probably cancel and want a refund with air transat via expedia. I've had problems with expedia before (hotel issues, not flight issues) so i'm a little concerned that despite them saying its a refundable flight, they wont.

Can anyone ease my concerns?

Thanks

Nick

Why book a flight that you'll probably cancel?

That aside....

IIRC, Expedia provide an option when you book to avoid charges if you cancel or change the flight. Costs £25. However, this only avoids Expedia charges. Would be better to book direct with the Airline and get a fully flexible ticket.

because unlike nz or aus, when you go on a working holiday in canada, they require you have a ticket out of the place, Problem being my bro doesnt know when he's planning on leaving canada. Could be any time from august (if he has to do exam resits) to early november when his uk job starts.

I'm out in the same place at the mo. I have a flight home in may which i have no intentions of taking, but its a none refundable ticket, meaning i've given thomas cook £300 for nothing..

You can only book outbound one way flights from the uk air transat webisite. Probably best making a phonecall.

I booked a flight with Expedia and needed to change it. I called them and they were fine. That said, it was a Business Class seat, dunno if that makes any difference!

You can book Air Transat and Thomas Cook via

Canadian Affair

I think they allow one-way bookings and also cancellations and amendments (though probably with a charge).

Have booked and cancelled with Expedia no problems,

Once I booked a biz class seat, and had to keep ringing back to find an operator who knew how to change my seat to a different date, they all kept saying the flight was full when it wasn't.
