Photos of the expansion tank area

Hi

Has anyone got any photos of the pipe work around the expansion tank? I suspect that I have a small coolant leak, and would like a look before I get out there and start dismantling!

No pics Ian, but tbh there's no need for them. There's a nut and bolt holding the tank in place on the corner and two hoses (one large, one small) held on with hose clips. Lean over the tank and look underneath and you'll see what I mean.

Thanks, Steve. I haven't nosed around under there before, and I just had nightmares about cramped spaces, etc!

I just hope it's a loose hose...

I've now stuck my nose in properly, having removed the airbox and relocated the battery out of its spot. It seems that one of the hoses coming off the y-piece to the passenger side coolant rail is perished. The heat shield is damp around it too.

Since I'm actually spannering myself for the first time in ages, I'm thinking that rather than just replace the six inch piece of hose, I may upgrade all the water hoses to some flash new silicon jobbies. All the kits from Clever Trever, RaceTech, etc all seem to be the same. Is that true? Are their any "best" ones?

Also, since I'm mincing about in there, any advice as to what the best replacement hose heat shield is, please?

Top man, thanks. I shall replace the battery cable shield while I am at it, since it's looking scrappy!
