Argh! Just destroyed another power steering pump, my third this year! After the first one seized and distributed fine metal particles throughout the system i have been destroying pumps with regularity, stripped the whole bloody power steering system down each time and given it a full clean but there must be some swarf hiding somewhere! Ive got a non power on my 280i, and at slow speeds you need to be swarzenegger to drive it.

Are you sure thats the way to go?

Im seriously considering the saxo electric pump and a power rack off of ebay.

Put an in-line filter into the return hose? The bits should get stuck in it as you use it. The return hose isn't under that much pressure (I think.)

Something like this perhaps? http://www.inlinefilters.co.uk/index.php?main_page...

Could you figure out a way of putting some kind of filter with a magnet in it to trap the metal particles - assuming they are magnetic?
