Wet footwell - reassurance required!

Having just picked up my early 4.2 after 2 weeks standing outside at Barnet and 1 week probably outside at Coventry, all 4 footwells are extremely wet. The car is always garaged when i have it and i have never noticed any 'leaks' of any sort previously. The wettest footwell is the drivers which is showing a 'tide-mark' of approx. 1/2 inch (maybe from the thick mats?). The car has been in for a new clutch / bellhousing, any advice would be greatly appreciated as to the probable cause and cure for this problem.
I've had the same problem. Had my Cerbie for nearly 3 years and driven in heavy rain with no problems. Car stood outside at dealers after service for approx. 2 weeks whilst I was on holiday and footwells were all soaked. I removed as much as poss. i.e. mats etc. and dried out. As yet problem has not reoccured but it did take ages to get the car dry. Did think about hiring a dehumidifier to speed the process up.
They do not all do that, my car is permanently parked outside in rain, snow, sleet etc....only had damp footwells once and that was traced to the rubber seals in the bulkhead through which the steering column, electric wires etc go through perishing. It could account for the front footwells, but the rears???? Ask them if they have left windows open or doors ajar.
Mine is always outside - no garage. Mine used to leak but I sealed everything especially bolts. There is one under the cover for the windscreen wipers which looks incredibly difficult to seal. However I still had one leak which waswhere the paint had chipped off and with heavy rain it used to soak through the fibre glass. Sealing fixed that. However as reported before I have a wet rear floor on one side behind the driver. It is not the door seal and I can not see anything dripping on to it.
