Greetings Piston Heads from the Delorean Club Of Fl

Hello fellow car nuts. I'm with the Delorean Club Of Fl. I'm a fan of all cool cars, but I hope to at least own a Delorean some day.

The Delorean on the left in the picture is a stock original car. The one on the right has an aftermarket twin turbo add on. It still has the original Volvo engine, but with 210 horsepower. 0-60 is around 6.5 seconds.

I saw a Delorean yesterday actually, up on bricks with all the wheels off, on a driveway in Heanor, Derbyshire.

Yes. My friend's turbo Delorean is pretty quick. Has a custom exhaust as well. Sounds like a Ferrari when you start it up. I have driven a Delorean and it's one of the best cars I driven. The standard car isn't fast, but it's comfortable and fun to drive, especially on corners. Just be careful since most of the weight is in the rear, it'll slide on you a bit. The pedals on the 5 speed cars are close together, so practice heel to toe shifting.

Thank you for the advice. My friend owns the turbo Delorean. He replaced the original speedominter with a 140mph unit.

One of my dream cars, hope to own one eventually. If I was extremely wealthy I would import a brand new one from DMC in Texas.

Fantastic cars that were unfairly maligned by the press. I owned mine for several years and dearly regret selling it. One day I'll get another. Not the fastest in stock form but DMC was developing a turbo when it folded. A great cruiser though. Happy memories of trips to the South of France in mine...

Very nice Delorean you had there. Sorry you had to sell it. This economy has forced people to make some tough decisions.



I went to a car show Orlando recently where the Delorean was one of the featured makes. There were 15 Deloreans there including a Back to the Future replica. Ferrari, Lotus, Lamborghini, Bugatti, were some of the other makes. 3 Deloreans took home trophys. My friend took home a trophy for his original Delorean with the original tires from 1981! Also met John Delorean's daughter and actor Ernie Hudson. It was a great show!
