We all have at least a couple of mates who've been caught out. I have two married friends that wouldn't be married if it weren't for a "happy surprise" (one, who was considering an exit strategy when his youngest was approaching sixteen, was presented with another "surprise", guess his wife must have read his mind. He's still married), and there are similar stories on here all the time.

So given how easy it is for women to trap men "you don't need one of them, don't you trust me?, oh gosh, my pill must have failed" etc, I wonder how a male pill (allowing men to take real control of whether they became fathers or not) would affect society? Would it even lower the amount of chav element as girls with no real parenting desire but looking for an easy life on benefits, or simply to trap a man, find it harder to get knocked up?

Or would nothing change?

The only way a male pill would work is if it was added at source to lager.

I reckon it would change the world massively, for the better.

I'd like it, at the moment the only (non-permanent) male contraception is the condom, which is far from ideal. It would be nice to have an option which was less intrusive, without having to rely on the single form of contraception used by the woman.

Would it change society? Apart from an explosion in STD rates, probably not.

The idiots that don't bag up when it matters would likely neglect to take it so no.

Quite possibly. I'd agree with JAYB that it can't be a daily thing, but a slow release device, like an IUD, only preferably not shoved up there would prove very attractive to a huge number of people.

I still don't understand why its not possible.

I think it is medically possible, the issue is the side effects such as the overwhelming urge to buy scatter cushions and a TT Cabriolet.

Aha, the diametric opoposite of:

"No dear I don't want children at the moment"

[MONTHS OF FURIOUS RUTTING]

"Yes dear of course I'm still on the pill"

[CONTINUE UNTIL MAN WORKS IT OUT, BY BEING TOLD SHE'S "ACCIDENTALLY" PREGNANT]

Indeed, although the mere sight of a massively oversized pair of of balls in a very dark shade of blue was enough of a contraception in itself

It might lessen pregnancy but will double STDs surely?

Quite possibly.

At least it might result in less babies being born to fathers who didn't want them.

I don't think it would make any difference, particularly if there were side effects like there are with the female pill.

Not all of us have a bulleted pre-coital to-do-list lovely boy.

  • Put cat out
  • Draw all curtains
  • Disrobe
  • Quadricep stretches
  • Check iron hasn't been left on.
  • Record prophylactic expiry and batch number before applying.
  • Remove trilby
  • Consider extinguishing pipe
  • Turn bedside photo of Michael Heseltine around
  • Grimly assume stance etc.

If there were a male contraceptive pill, would you still physically jizz or just get the sensation?
