hotel recommendations in Las Vagas
Discussion
If you're not too fussy then go on Hotwire.com to save a packet on some of the big names. They don't tell you which one you are booking, just it's rough location (e.g. Central Strip) and star rating. From there you can narrow down which one it will be. Betterbidding.com has a forum which lets you see what other people have booked and received using Hotwire, making it less of a gamble.
I've stayed in the Wynn, MGM Signature, Westin and Hampton Inn Tropicana in the last three years. The Wynn was overall probably the nicest of them, though they were all good.

I'm off to the California in September for my 30th Birthday and we are heading to Las vagas towards the end of the holiday. I've been to Las vagas before but that was 19yrs ago and we only stayed in the Sahara. Could anyone recommend to me which hotel to stay in in Las Vagas. Thanks
We've got a deal in december, Wynn encore 750sqft suite, direct flights from Gatwick through Virgin, 7 nights, 900 quid each.Check expedia for deals, they were by far the cheapeat when we booked a couple of months ago.
We've stayed at the the Luxor twice before, but it is right at the end of the strip.
Any where in the Wynn, ceasears, Bellagio area is good.
I have stayed in a few of them - Treasure Island was OK but not that nice.
Stay away from Circus Circus / sahara /stratosphere etc - they come up cheapest of the main hotels for a reason.
last time, We stayed at the MGM grand (booked direct) and this was pretty good - you don't spend much time in your room so go on the rest of the hotel and this on is a good middle bracket hotel. (think we payed about £55 per night)
I would book on location and go for the center of the strip rather than either end which rules out the luxor & mandalay bay.
We ruled out the Wynn / Encore / Bellagio etc as although they are nice, they are the expensive ones (room wise) and this means that the tables generally have higher minimums than the middle bracket hotels. It depends if this is one of your careabouts but if you do most of your gambling in the hotel you stay at then it can matter.
Next time we said we would stay in the Venetian or the Palazzo (next door to the Venetian) both of which are in the center of the strip and have quite a nice atmosphere.

Trump Tower, The Wynn or the Venitian. All top drawer.
Forget Circus Circus and the Stratosphere, complete dives the pair of them.
Everything he said!Forget Circus Circus and the Stratosphere, complete dives the pair of them.
If I ever go back again the Wynn or Venetian would be my choice, central to the strip and better bars, restaurants and a far, far higher class of clientel which of course is reflected in the price.
Mandalay Bay was excellent for food and very fresh and modern but unfortunately right at the end of the strip, as mentioned avoid the Stratosphere end of town, it's a complete pit.
Whatever you choose save some money for a helicopter trip out to the Canyon, simply breathtaking.Seriously so.
Regards
Talking of the helicopter trip (which is definitely a MUST) you can get quite bad motion sickness on it. I've been in a chopper a few times and never experienced it before but because of flying over the mountains there is very minimal turbulance and after a while it can get to you. Once of the guys in our group hurled his guts up as we landed at the canyon! Mind that may have been helped by the skinful of beer he had the night before...
