Stupid question?

Well, I've run a '06 C320cdi estate for a year now and really like the car. Comfortable, 40mpg, and the ability to stealthily blow most stuff away when required.

Two things that I don't like are the handling is somewhat ponderous and the fact that it feels a little mundane for someone who still considers themselves a petrol head.

Therefore, I'm considering a C55 Estate and wondered what I would actually gain over my C320cdi for the cost outlay and hike in running costs?

So, my question I guess is just how 'special' does a C55 feel and is it hugely quicker in than a C320cdi and how does the handling/roadholding compare?

(An alternative, cheaper course of action might be a trip to DMS and some suspension fettling for the C320cdi).

If handling is the only issue you have I suggest you refresh the CDI's suspension with Bilsteins. The torque is similar on both cars.

C55 will be quicker for sure but on startup the computer will show you averaging about 18mpg.

You need to go and drive a 55.

When it comes to feeling special, as soon as you turn the key the V8 will blow any turbo diesel into the weeds.
