Hi guys,
I've Been looking at buying an MX5 for a few weeks and think I might of found 'the one' on the classifieds here.

However there is one possible issue with car. The advert said the car has had powersteering fitted aftermarket as this did not come as standard.

Does anyone have any experiance of anything like this? Should I be worried about this ? Because otherwise the car seems great. (fsh, low mileage, uk model, no rust, £2k).

Thanks.

My P reg 1.8 has power steering.

If it's been done properly, I don't think it's much of an issue, as all the parts are readily available. I'd ask who did the conversion, and try to compare it to a car with it already fitted.

seems a good price, make sure you HPI the car before you buy.

Did you get to look at the 5??

As previously said, if it's been install ok you should not have an issue.

Re: Power steering devils advocate. Check that the rack has been changed too, PS versions have a shorter lock to lock than Non PS but are quite expensive IIRC.

I would have thought the rack would have to have changed. You can de-power a pas rack but I don't think you can power a manual rack...
