Hi,

I'm looking for a diesel estate (nothing massive though), with a budget of £2k.

I've seen pug 307 hdi's, focus tdi (and some high mileage tdci's), audi A4's, Passats, and other usual rep mobiles.

What are your recommendations? Insurance is a big issue too so nothing bigger than a 2.2 (for some reason an a4 2.5tdi costs more to insure than my audi coupe 2.6 v6...).

I would look at a Mondeo, Octavia or even an early Mazda 6 estate. I've got a 6 hatchback diesel and it hasn't missed a beat, despite some horror stories you hear!

Writing from my phone so sorry for any bad spelling smile

My mum used to work for a local VW dealership, and she really slates the cars reliability. Mind you she did used to work for Toyota, the most reliable cars in the world! Unfortunately the cheap ones are ugly with rubbish engines.

The Octavia looks like a good choice though, and fairly handsome too.... choices choices!!!

Fiat's Stilo Estate was quite a good size and the 1.9JTD motor was one of the best in it's day too. Might be worth a look.
might be a bit over the budget, though?
