Went for a bike ride this morning and stopped by a lake to feed the ducks. A big Swan appears and chases off the assembled ducks so I thought fair enough, you're getting the food. Then a woman comes along walking two Labradors, big, chunky, chocolate brown buggers, not those skinny little ones.

The dogs are very exited and jumping about a lot, one of them drops the ball he has into the lake and decides to go in after it, right where the Swan is feeding. I fking kid you not the Swan just battered it! I know there are all these silly stories about Swans breaking your arm and all that but this bd just went straight at it, hissing and cracking the dog with it's wings absolutely no hesitation. The dogs head was actually getting knocked about like a boxer!

The dog went into a real panic and tried to back track but kept sliding on the mud back into the Swans bashing zone. The woman is screaming the other dog is whining. It was a seriously impressive display of ultra-violence, I will never mess with a Swan let me tell you.

The dog finally got away and the Swan just instantly settled down and continued eating the bread like nothing had happened.

Beware of a feeding Swan!

Ah I see what you did there!

Scary stuff though, an 8-9 year old kid could definitely be in big trouble against that nutter this morning.

Why was the woman screaming? Oh, she believed the urban myth about the strength of the swan's wings? Stupid.

Probably because she was witnessing her dog in serious trouble, not only getting knocked about by a Swan but also slipping under the water repeatedly in it's panic to get away. Or maybe she was just stupid eh P1sshole?

To be honest the whole situation developed so quickly it was quite shocking, had it been my dog I probably would have gone in and tried to drag it out.

This is why I always carry a large Samuri Sword when walking in the local park and get it out if a swan even looks my way.

If they mess with me, I'll learn 'em..proper like.

Ah, personal insults; great thanks. Very clever, though, he ingenious way in which you changed the beginning of my (made up) forum name so it looks like a word for urine. Excellent filter swerving too!

Was screaming going to magically help the dog out of the water?

It's a bit Deus ex Machina to mention that the dog was slipping under water at this stage, too.

Yes, Swans can be very protective when they are nesting or have young.

I've seen it before and usually the dog will back down. Sadly a swan was killed by a Staffie here the other day so it's not always the way frown

Yeah I was very proud of that, it took me ages to think it up.
It was a cheap shot admittedly, my apologies. I was simply reacting to your personal insult against a frightened woman that you know absolutely nothing about.

I couldn't possibly say, did you expect me to arbitrate?

Well I can pull any nonsense out of the hat now can't I because you weren't there. Did I mention that the Swan had another Swan wearing a hoody and brandishing a flick knife as backup?

Can you really be bothered with this?

Yes, when the dog, frantically backing up in a panic, lost it's grip on the banked floor of the lake, it slid back into the water with lots of splashing, thrashing and on one or two occasions, dipping under.

Would you like to grill me on whether it was actually once or twice? To be honest I don't recall, can you imagine that?

Actually I'm bored today so please continue your anal nitpicking, it would be rude not to.

I imagine it's possible although I doubt Swans have the problem as their arses are often underwater.

It's possible to get them on one's penis, too, whereupon they are known as "Pish-bugle Squirmers" to the cognoscenti. Horrible little feckers.

yes
