Hi folks

We recently bought a Vango Icarus 500 and when pitching it in the garden (prior to a holiday!!) we noticed that the corners seem a bit "strained" and sit off the ground by about an inch. Is this normal in tents? Or is there a way around it? At the show room we saw that some tents were like yours whilst others seemed completely flat.

Thanks for any advice!

Bet you didn't peg it down. The poles are trying to straighten as they are under tension there fore pulling up the corners.
Shop displays are always screwed down tighter than a charity box in a scouse offey

It's pegged down in every corner, and every pegging point is pegged down but it just does not seem to pull the whole tent down as the internal (sewn in) groundsheet does not pull to the floor.

Thanks for the response

If you are comparing your tent to a show room version, you have to bear in mind that when you are at home, the gorund may not be perfectltly flat and level.
Campsites may be comletlty uneven!

If you're not happy take it back.Tents are stitched by people in factories so there is a chance an error has been made, unlikeley but still a chance

I think we found out the problem, we were putting the guide ropes in before securing the built in ground sheet so the guide ropes were putting tension onto the groundsheet and pulling it skywards! (Hey, it's only our second attempt at ever putting a tent up!)

It's just difficult to get the bloody poles to stand up without the guide ropes laugh

Thanks for the advice :-)
