My AA has run out so had a look around and came across Autoaid on
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/roadsid... Since AA themselves nowadays send out non-aa breakdown trucks at times very open to it.

Slightly different in that you have to pay and then claim back the cost but MSExpert has never let me down and reviews on the net are positive, hence about to go with them- anyone here using them?

I'm with them as they cover you and spouse, driving any car, and with any trailer.

I haven't had to call them, but only found good reviews from those that have.

I might be the person to discuss this with...

In two years with AutoAid my £73 has paid for:

VW Type 2 Camper recovered home from Snetterton..Siezed....................£250
Fiat Multipla recovered home from Sudbury................Belt tensioner.........£118
GTM Libra recovered home from Sudbury..................Clutch Slave cylinder..£70

In all cases the service was swift, courteous and clean. Cheque was back in my account within a week of sending in the invoice.

I bought their cover for my daughter when the cover with her car ran out. she doesn't usually venture very far and I work from home so am usually around but I wanted something as a safety net.

Never needed to call them but from what I've read they are very much more biased towards recovery than roadside fix.

Our gearbox went in Cornwall, cost of recovery £400 paid no problem. We hired a car to drive home in and they would not cover us for the £120 that cost, we could not have fitted in the recovery truck as we had so much holiday cover.

You are more on your own with Autoaid than the AA/RAC, its up to you to get the repair arranged or recovered, the breakdown centre will send someone if you ring them however but you don't get the all round protection of a bigger company in my opinion.

Autoaid pay for you someone to come to the roadside to repair the car and will pay for these roadside labour repairs, or you can choose to be recovered wherever in the UK you want. They will also pay for you to travel back to the car to pick it up if you decide to travel onwards.

Good value comprehensive cover.

On all the occasions I listed above they were keep to fix it, but all were requiring parts which were unavailable at the time...like a flat four air cooled engine! LOL!
In fact the high price for the Multipla was due to them coming in a service van and then having to summon recovery.

Fair enoug, thanks. I suppose their issue is that, because they use local contractors, it's a variable service. But then breakdowns are variable too.
