...I want to mount one in the car somewhere. Whats a relatively cheap camera which picks up good sound and hardly any vibration etc. Don't want anything bulky, something small and compact would be better.

I started off with a budget VHS-C camcorder slung under the rollover bar, very difficult to get rid of picture shake and the microphone was overloaded by the wind noise at anything over 100 mph. (Maybe your Lotus is quieter though?)

Nowadays I use a bottom-of-the-range DV camcorder with a remote mounted bullet camera, the DV stays tucked away behind the seats with the bullet cam rigidly attached to the rollover bar, I use a Lanc remote control to start/stop recording.

Yeah that sounds like a great idea, esp for safety. Dont want a camera flying through the front window on hard braking. My car is quite noisey with being mid engined, but dosent matter too much.
Thanks heaps,
Kylie
