I was at an airfield trackday yesterday and told by the organised that my car couldn't go out with its day-running lights (dipped headlights) on.

We did get out in the end after a frantic pulling of bulbs and wiring - but have never had this problem at other venues or with other organisers (I've never read about it in any trackday T&Cs)

As most scandinavian cars have day running-lights and many newer cars are adorned with a collection on LED fairy lights at the front end I was wondering if anyone else has hit this problem?

DRL's become a legal requirement under EU law in 2011 on new cars so they may have to reconsider this one!

That's a strange one! I often run with my lights on - anything to aid people seeing the car is a bonus. I would never use the lights to flash anyone, but i really can't see why drl's would cause any problems.

Would insulation tape over the DLRs not have been sufficient?

I always use LED side lights on track. Anything that helps people see each other is a good thing.

I don't think it's a problem at all. There was an R8 running with it's twinkly fairy lights on at the last track day I was at and it didn't bother me.

If someone came up behind me with full lights on, I might wonder why, but not DRL's.
