First time Cerbera ownership

Anyone got some good tips on becoming a Cerbera owner for the first time? I am looking to buy one to use as a daily driver. Is this wise? Can anyone recommend a good inspection service to ensure I don't buy a dud?

I had a wedge many years ago, so I have some experience of the frustrating side of TVR ownership...

The two people most used for inspections seem to be James Agger and Rob Ingleby.

As for using it as an everyday car, how much driving do you do on a daily basis?

And as important as how much, what type? Short stop/start journeys in traffic will be pretty tedious, but a long cross country blat everyday would be fine. Used mine as everyday transport for many years, all good fun.

I wouldn't have one as a daily driver.

Maybe, just maybe if the weather and roads were nice all the time - but traffic jams, traffic lights, speed humps and speed cameras all seriously reduce the enjoyment. In the winter you'll find yourself going sideways more than you'd like, plus all the salt on the road won't do much for your chassis.

If you can stretch to a £500 snotter for those sort of journeys it'll increase the pleasure of ownership.

As for an inspection - I'd second getting Rob Ingleby to cast his eye over it for you. He came up trumps for me.

Your local indie is the best place for an inspection. Getting these cars on the ramps is important. James Agger knows how to find good TVRs so maybe worth talking to him.

Depends on your budget The Cerb is quite an event to drive and very taxing on your concentration all the time. I think you'd feel quite knackered when you got to your destintation and in need of a rest. I always did with any drive in my Cerb although don't get me wrong it was great fun. But quite intense.

I'd say go for it, i think when you feel the need to own a TVR, its worth doing. Yep get it checked out, but don't ponder for too long or summer will be over. I'd spend on a good one, thats been well looked after. Looking at the price range between the more expensicve & cheap ones, its not a huge difference as far as high performance cars go.

I have about 10 miles on a great A road with no stops, followed by 10 miles on motorway and a short stretch in traffic. So, each way 20+ miles. Looks like getting a shed to drive in the winter is a good bet.
