Just for a larf I decided to Ebay some of the tat I've got laying about the house/workshop.

First sale was a Morris Eight speedo: Success, guy paid, I sent, everybody happy.

Second sale was an old Mini instrument console dashboard thing. It sold after a few bids, £23, and I had postage down as £14 by Parcelfarce.

Three days later the buyer paid..... £23

I emailed and mentioned that she needed to pay the postage too, and the reply was a little odd, as there was mention of how she'd have to pay twice for the dash and once for the postage. confused

She only has 8 feedback, so I assume she is a little confused by the process. I explained she could simply pay me £14 by Paypal directly.

Anyway, I'm now awaiting her reply, but it is definitely not a very illustrious start to my Ebay selling career. frown

ebay is not worth the hassle, stick it in the bin smile

I sold of our little boys baby items, items brought for £100ish sold for £10 - Had loads of hassle from most of the sales, from foul mouthed emails to turning up late when the little one is in the bath etc.

All items are now donated to charity or thrown in the bin.

eBay is now used by a majority of idiots, who used to be the minority. You have to sell your item for next to nothing, deal with hassle, constant emails, questions, fees, Paypal feels, getting the item wrapped up and to the post office, and then all the ste that Paypal gives you about your monthly and yearly limits.

I haven't bothered to sell on there for a long time, especially now that you HAVE to leave buyers positive feedback or nothing. Ridiculous.

Ebay is worth it! I still sell plenty of bits and pieces without hassle (wife does give clothes to local charity shops as well).

So, what do I do if she doesn't pay the postage?

She is marked off in Ebay as 'Paid' so hardly a non-paying buyer.

In another thread someone mentioned that Ebay is full of scammers and lowlifes, and another poster mentioned it is because Ebayers don't police their own, but let this sort of scammer/idiot get away with far too often. I'm inclined just to let it go, as we are moving abroad next week, but that too makes me a lay-down-and-take-it-up-the-ass loser.

If the item is small enough to fit in a post box, surely she's paid for the item but not the postage, so simply package it up and send it to her address without stamps?

You lose the proof of delivery, so are susceptible to "not received", but it might teach her a lesson when she gets pinged for the postage smile

Are you sure you sent the invoice correctly...as this could be the reason she hasn't paid for the carriage?

Why not refund her then ask her to pay in full?As she doesn't seem to understand how to send you the postage separately, this might put her mind at peace about paying twice. It's something i'd suggest to her first though.

Used eBay for years, guess it's just pot luck if you run into an idiot, personally only ever had one difficult sale, all the others have been smooth & easy.

It sounds to me like you didn't fill out the postage section, hence it was never taken into account when the buyer paid though Paypal.

You might want to check this and bear this in mind for next time as it'll save all this bk ache.

We're emigrating to the Philippines. I hear they have Ebay there too, so I don't want to sully my feedback over one dorkish English customer. biggrin

I fear that may throw her over the edge totally, if she can't even understand how Paypal works at the moment. I have the box packed, so I may just throw it in the post and be done. I don't need any more stress right now. spin

She may just be like me a couple of years ago and had to open an account with paypal specifically to buy on Ebay, but now she's not sure if it was safe or not due to the numerous "paypal is satan and will steal your unborn children" threads across the internet. A quick message to her might be the end of the problem.

Sadly I had to sell the hot rod and the Harley, but I have already bought a bare glass fibre '29 roadster body to take with us. biggrin

She just e mailed me back an hour ago saying she is a bit nervous and would prefer to send the money through Ebay, so I told her not to worry I'll just ship it free tomorrow. biggrin

Good deed, my soul is cleansed.

I used to use Ebay every now and then a few years ago but there were just too many morons for my liking so I gave up with it.

Fingers crossed your experiences get better!
