Hi any of you diyers changed the rack pinion seal without removing the rack?
Am i right in thinking the seal is 20x30x5mm and can be purchased from local bearing/seal stockest.
Any ideas on what the seal is made of, nitrile, viton or other? My chimaera is a 1999 vintage.
Any advice would be helpfull thanks. George

yes I changed mine without removing the rack. It had gone hard with age and heat from the manifold & cat.

Hi

I think i have the same issue! fluid is leaking from around the plastic cover/seal at the bottom of the steering column after the UJ.

Question is does the old one just pop out and the new push in? so it can be done in situ maybe with a bit of power steering fluid to help it slip in or do i need a puller to get the old one out and something clever to push the new on in?

lastly will this actually do the job ( all being well) as I have also read that this is just a cover and not the actual seal ie not the bit to replace! Looking at this

Thanks in advance
