First of all, try the BAA website. Book early for massive discounts.

Secondly - what terminal?

They seem to do good deals on short term these days if you're booking far enough in advance and for more than 3 days. Last time I went from LHR it was only about a tenner more than the mid/long term options.

What's the advantage?

Not sure if it suits T4 or not but we've tended to use the airports own long-stay parking on the inner perimeter road (eastern end of it) - not too expensive and very regular shuttle-buses.

Park up, walk straight over to the terminal. No buses, no leaving your keys, no finding the right bus stop when you get back.

Must admit that looks expensive, I pay a lot less than that for a week in short term at T5. It's as sjg says usually only a tenner more than the long term and has been known to be cheaper than Business.

Pesonally I'd go with the T4 On site option, you might find somewhere a few quid cheaper but not so close to the terminal and less frequent buses.

Sorry to hijack,

I'm heading off from T5 in 2 weeks (so probably no early bird discounts) for 9 days,

whats the best option for me?

Thanks

You can still get discounts. eg for 2 June to 11 June, ie technically 10 x 24 hour periods or part, the short stay is reduced from a full price of £469 to £155.60. Which is still double the T5 long stay at 82.90 reduced from £155.60.

The other options are Business T5 Leisure Special, no amend /refund £81.20, normal business T5 ie flexi/refundable which is a bit more at £103.60, personally I don't use the Business T5 as it doesn't save much more on the transfer, plus the last, and only, time I used them on prebook the exit procedure was a total PITA, though I'm sure they've got that fixed by now as it was early after T5 opening.

There is a new service Long Stay Plus valet service, you drop it off in long stay, leave your keys and pick it up in Short Stay on your return. Nobody gets my keys in their sticky mitts, but that's £101.60 if it floats your boat. The valet parking does seem popular, but not for me tbh. wink I'm making no comments about driving....

To my mind it depends on your flight times, if check in or arrival are very early or very late then I'd be tempted with the Short Stay special, otherwise I'd just go for standard T5 long term, its on the northern peri road and transfer bus services are fine.

Edited to say, just reread that and my comments about the valet are somewhat negative upon reflection. There are some VERY nice, valuable and very quick motors that are in there, eg the other day two rows up from a GT3RS. Having said that because I'd picked my own spot I was tucked away in a corner protected on three sides, the Porker was end of a row exposed on two sides to a lot of passing and turning traffic. I would never have put my car there, never mind a mint GT3RS. Mint refers to condition not colour btw.

Thanks very infortative.

Still seems pricey though, Purple parking on the web are quoting £60 for the same period.

I'm a great believer in 'you get what you pay for' but it seems to good to turn dowm?

Anyone got any experiences?

I used BAA for T5 the other week, highly recommended.

Only waited 5 mins for Bus transfer to the terminal doors

When I got back from holiday, flat battery. Kind Gentlemen in the car park office came over and jump started it for free.

A+ service in my opinion.

Just got back from holiday, they had the car for 17days and cost £67.83!!.. 5ish mins from Terminal 5/4 etc..

Infact we couldn't land in Heathrow because of the ash cloud so they had the car for an extra day which they didn't even charge us for..

IIRC, I used Purple Parking (?) valet service last year.

You call them when you approach your departure terminal, wait in the drop off area, they collect your car from you and take it to offsite parking. On return, you call them when you're in the baggage hall and the car's outside waiting when you walk out.

No hassle, no faffing, and not much more cost than driving the car to the offsite parking yourself and taking their slow shuttle bus.
