Split up with my boyfriend a while ago and looking to meet someone else. Tried internet dating previously and it wasn't great - it felt too artificial and contrived. I met some weirdos, players AND some nice guys who had we met through friends or a club, we'd possibly have got together, but organised dating isn't for me!

Ways that have worked for me in the past include: through mates, at work, through a walking club.

Recommendations please... what have you tried (without the pretext of dating) that worked?

Have you considered posting suggestive stuff on Pistonheads to get the beardies hot under the collar?

EDIT: Serious reply is "sports clubs". Something men and women can enjoy at the same level - Tennis, climbing, cycling etc.

I'll take £5 at 150/1 on the proviso Sarah being a "nymphomaniac" is classed as worthwhile.

Oooops! I made this mistake with my DIY posts and learnt where to put these and think I've put this in the wrong place. Moderator - please do move, I've no idea how to :-O

Sorry!

Re: sports classes. Yep, love exercise and regularly go to the gym so this had crossed my mind, especially having met people at a walking club before. I've done badminton and yoga before which were good fun, but yoga wasn't the best place to meet guys. In fact, we had 2 lovely chaps who went and were inundated by the women - definitely something I'd go to if I was a male!

This is the only thing public transport is good for! Used to live in London and was always meeting people on tubes and busses.

No one gets on a bus to try and meet someone so people are a lot more natural and easy to talk to, score their number before you get off.

You also get to visit some parts of London you'd never see.

PS - Do not expect successful results on a night bus! Good luck

How about posting a pic? wink

I would say having a common interest is a very good way to get to meet someone.

So what car do you drive? hehe

Pop over to the Biker Banter forum, say that you've always liked bikes but were...I dunno, too scared to buy one. Ask for a few pointers/rides.....Bobski will be round in about 10 minutes. He's a real catch, I sh!t you not.

He's right, and you should be spoilt for choice in London for sports and social clubs. After watching a Heston programme the other day, there seemed to be a small group of women who enjoy dressing in burlesque clothes and eating cake suggestively. I think this proves that all bases are covered in London.

If the above suggestion floats your boat, feel free to try it, and report back on how the evening went. The more detail the better.

OK we've seen that one, now we just need one with lacy evening wear and a low cut neck line to reveal best part of the jubblies.

Re: Pistonheads - I'm very into cars, people on here get wound up like hell by my DIY questions and finally it is internet dating :-O

This is crazy - surfing public transport to meet people! I use it a lot and have only ever been chatted to by people who'd escaped and not been recaptured yet. As a girl on London transport, you do get some real nutters chat to you who wont go away and stare at your breasts while they talk at you. I've even had one guy touch himself. Think I'll resist the temptation to bus surfing a go!
