As per my earleir thread I am looking to spend the school holidays 2011 in Aus with the kids for a mega holiday. I had thought that the best way to get cheap flights was to book early, plus I need to know how far my budget will stretch and flights are a big chunk of that.

But try as I might I can only book 12 months in advance , no mater hat website I go to. Is this normal ?

Am I just being daft trying to book so far in advance, will prices improve closer to the flight time etc ? Just looking for any ideas ....

You'll get the cheapest standard pricing, booking this far in advance. Prices will only go up from here as the cheaper tickets sell out.

However, there may be sales which could create lower pricing. This might only mean 2 tickets per flight etc, so not enough for the family.

My advice, book now in the knowledge you won't be paying more.

Having just booked some flights fairly far in advance, the information that STA gave us was that you cannot book a flight more than 1 year in advance. Although I am guessing that there may well be companies out there that can go further.
