Who is Jon Cruddas?

[paddyhasneeds]

I ask this as someone who has more interest in politics than most people "on the street", and I've no idea who on earth he is?!

I know that Sky have just announced as BREAKING NEWS that he won't be running, and I've read/seen/heard the name mentioned a lot every time leadership elections are talked about, but I don't think I've once seen or heard the chap anywhere, ever.

So who on earth is he?

I appreciate the actual answer can readily be Googled, my point is more how can someone 99% of the public probably haven't even heard of be touted as a potential party leader (other than by virtue of not being one of the oh too familiar faces of the last 13 years)?

No idea. I'm with you on this one. Isn't he a Union man?

Cheater! You've got to answer it without reference to references, if you follow?
