Hi Guys, I've got an xjs limited slip diff in the back of my mgb and am wanting to change the oil as dont know when it was last done. Its going to get some heavy track use so looking for something suitable, ta!

I've put Redline 75W/90 GL5 with friction modifier in my '95 xjr. I don't race it though. http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-1016-redline-synthetic...
Read the pdf technical details on the link. There are other Redline oils that might be more suited for racing. Again, the link should allow you to search through products.

do you know what style of LSD is fitted, or the manufacturer of the slipping bit?
Clutch plate type would need different oils to geared type

Castrol B373 is a likely candidate.

no not sure, its just the standard xjs v12 lsd. i havnt had it appart as the car it came from ran so well, i took the old 'if it aint broke....'' approach

Drain diff.

Go down to your local jaguar parts emporium and purchase a bottle of their LSD friction modifier (£16 IIRC) and put that in the diff.

Top up with HP90 until the level is such that the oil is just coming out of the filler hole.

You're now good to go.
