Good on you mate! i got a blue one myself. Really fun to drive, quick Q, does it have a lot of history? you might want to see if the surclip for the drive shaft has been done, there was a recall, mine went on mine and was a pain in the ass to get hold of a new uprated one. Just a heads up, other than that brill car! should see 260ish to a full tank of enthusiastic revtastic driving. Think the handbook recommends using at least 97 ron as well, another heads up! biggrin

Didnt get much written history but luckily my uncle is a parts manager for a suzuki dealer and checked its history out online through Suzukis dealer network. Its had the driveshaft work done to it already!

Thanks for the head up about fuel... I filled it with 95. I'll run it down and use 97. Need to get a nice new set of yokos for it too, its got crap tyres on it so is a bit slidey at the back...!

Pictures to follow!

Lol no problem, Ignis Sport owners are hard to come by so i'll do all the best i can to help! biggrin It says on the petrol cap cover i think about the Ron. Just get yourself to shell and a shell club card, you'll probably earn enough points to not really notice a difference. fillups quite cheap aswell, i'm just shy of £40 for a fillup on Vpower.

You got the standard alloys or previous owner put aftermarkets on? took me ages to get a hold of all 4 standard enkeis! just waiting for the funds to get them powder coated and get new rubber on them! IMO the standard ones are nice, probably get a little lost, but i like them so decided against aftermarkets!

Where abouts your uncles suzuki parts place? i've been trying to get a new key cut and coded for ages buy my local suzuki parts place keeps ignoring me!

Phoenix Suzuki in Stirling.

Quoted me £140 for key and coding. Ouch!

Got the standard alloys, could do with reconditioning. I'm happy with it just now, but if I decide to spend a few quid I'll get them reconditioned. REALLY need good tyres though.

Had a wee blast of it on my lunchbreak there... great fun!

Lol yeah, they need good tyres, especially for the wet! understeers like a dog if you're not careful! Very predictable to lift off oversteer though! I'll probably try my more local garage again... I'll phone them this time instead of emailing!

Had an Ignis Sport for a weekend a few years ago. One of the most fun times ever, pounding it around the New Forest as if it was a special stage.

Really underrated little car.

I was thinking Toyo Proxes, as opposed to the Yokohamas that they are meant to have.

What do you reckon?

Yeah i'd go for the toyo's, thats what i'm putting on to the enkeis once i get them powder coated! biggrin But i think Toyo's ware down faster but offers more grip!

I have an Ignis Sport 2005 model and have put 73,000 miles on it. I also have a Subaru Legacy Spec B 2005 and a BMW 530d touring and I tend to prefer the Suzuki on the daily 60 mile commute down country A Roads.

re: Tyres. The original Yoko's are bad in the wet. really bad.
Second set: Toyo Proxy which felt a lot more wallowy in the dry but worked better in the wet.
Third set: Dunlop Sport Fast Response: Good handling (increase pressure a bit) but now have Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2 on the front (partworn from Ebay at £85 for 2 w/6.5mm) and they are good.

I have put Falken ze912 on the Subaru and BMW and they are good. I would consider them for the Ignis but the Pilot's are best (at £86 each new on the ignis and £310 each on the Subaru) but expensive.

I also had the Ignis converted to LPG and 4 weeks ago drove 510 miles from Portsmouth to Glasgow via Edinburgh for £38 of fuel!
Cracking car with a power to weight around 140bhp.
I have a spare original exhaust for cheap if you need one ...

Lol yeah that guy was a bit optimistic. Its actually 110BHP in power, but per ton is something like 120BHP/Ton. The car weighs less than a ton. Mine are not exact figures but you get the rough idea. I'm actually annoyed cos the JDM ones have 115-120BHP standard, but i dont know what the different tune is to actually achieve that!

I'm not too bugged either way... pushing the noisy pedal makes me giggle every time anyway!

They're a fun little car and no mistake. If you want to look after the stock Enkei wheels then put plenty of polish on them when you clean them and make sure to clean the back of them too. The lacquer is wafer thin and no end of them bubbled and chipped, if memory serves Suzuki offered warranty replacements for a while.

If you do want to upgrade I have a set of Sam Remos in the garden taking up space....

Was thinking of putting Kumhos on it. Anyone had any experience of them? Seem to get good reviews on the tyre thread...

Failing that I'll go for Proxes. Kumhos seem to last longer though.

PS- Wheels need refurbed... :-(

I'm getting mine powder coated soon, got them at my garage who's offered to take the old tyres off and take it down to the local place to get coated for trade price! biggrin £160 for all corner. After that i'm getting new rubber on aswell, thinking about hankook V12 Evo's. They seem to get quite good reviews and was strongly recommended from some on the General Gassing when i was having tyre queries, at £45 a corner i'd say there probably worth a try!

All sounds good to me! I had Hankook Ventus on my old Punto Sporting and didnt really rate them, but that was 8 years ago and they were a replacement for some really nice Michelin Pilot SP sports. They were never going to be as good as the Michelins.

Still quite fancying the Kumhos, but I'll look into your V12 evos and see what the deal is.

New head unit came yesterday... nice wee sony one with USB connection. Got some JVC dash speakers too, the Clarion ones were a bit burst sounding. Just waiting for the ISO lead to come and I'll get it in the car!

So far getting about 300 miles to a tank of petrol and still with a big wide grin! Saw a red 05 plate in Arnold Clark at the weekend for a grand more than I paid for mine. Was a bit rough and had the wrong wheels on it! I'm still satisfied that I got a great deal and the wee car is worth every penny so far! Baby seat fits in it great too!

Once the stereo is in it I'll be happier taking it big long drives...!

What a great day!

Guy that I bought the car from called today to say that the history and the remote locking key had been forwarded from the BMW garage who took it as a trade in.

So it now has full, comprehensive suzuki service history and RCL!!!

Happy days! Still need Proxes though...

Jayho, have you did any work on your stereo system? I was thinking of putting 6x9s in the back panels...

Well....

I had found an ignis at a local scrap yard, with barely anything left on it... frown But i took the shelve between the space saver and boot off that car... got speakers through there, with some mods to protect it if i need to put anything in the boot, a smallish amp and sub in place of the space saver, bolted the amp to the underside of the shelf... Thats about all i've done, but I might be taking it out soon as i dont really use it all too much...

Overall its easy enough to do, just the same with any other car, but room can be a bit tight and not very recommended if you use you're boot often... I'm not sure if you can possibly get a proper shelf in place of the net shelf thats already there... if you do it would make it a lot easier... But you're right the standard sound system isn't actually very good...

Very good news on the keys mate! Still havent got any programmed yet, but i've kind of gotten used to having to use the keys... But i'll probably be screwed for next winter again...

A lot of the mods you find to buy online are quite overpriced, if you've got a simple cone induction kit i would suggest you try and find a way to get cold air feeding to it, its very laggy in summer months and because of the positioning all its doing is sucking hot air in!

If you find any good mesh grills though give me a shout, i'm not quite sure how to fashion one myself, my fog lights at the front, ones broken...

Has you're car been lowered yet? When i bought mine the last owner had used very stiff and very cheap springs... they were god awful, I can recommend Spax springs more... Great bang for buck, very comfy and aint too bad handler either...

Any more questions you may have feel free to ask!
