Looks like you could make a pretty good track from this airfield... anyone fancy buying it, just a £1 smile

Shame on the location - 138 miles / 3hrs 18min from Glasgow...

3,000metre runway sounds like fun though smile

Remember landing on that on a loganair flight to Islay years ago

The bit we landed on seemed so wide plane could just about have landed across the runway!

It used to be for the b-52 bombers and for a emergency landing strip for the shuttle. But the runway is is the third longest in europe, would be a great drag strip.

But its a great drive from glasgow, some really nice roads

I bet you'd still complaints from the neighbours about the noise, despite being as remote as that is!

Pedant mode ON.
The runway at Cape Canaveral where they land the shuttle, is 2.8 miles long. Macrihanish is 1.87 miles long. I'm not so sure that the shuttle would stop before the end of the runway. I'd heard that myth years ago, but with the advent of Google Earth, it's easy to and look at these places and measure them. (One gets so bored sometimes, stuck on an oil rig with nothing to do).
