Impreza Gearbox - vs - Forester gearbox (TY754VN1AA)

Hi guys,

Very quickly bother you for some advice!

I am after a new gearbox for my Impreza.
The original box is a TY754VN1AA (2000MY UK Spec 2.0 Turbo AWD).

I have found a TY754VN1AA Gearbox (Same Code). However this was originally from a Forester.
Will these be the same? I have heard that all the TY754VN1AA boxes have the same ratios. If so, it should fit fine i.e the Same box exactly.

The link shows codes for TN755VN1AA (maybe the TN755 is Forester? TN754 being Impreza?)

It's a strange one.
I spoke to a Subaru breakers who said that they've never seen a "TY754VN1AA" Box in a Forester, and assured me that the VN1AA box is the UK Impreza:

This says that the box is "UK/Europe Impreza Turbo 2000 / GT MY99 TY754VN1AA"

- However the guy I am getting it off said that it came from a crashed Forester that he'd bought for spares.

Well if it is a TY754VN1AA it should fit. Maybe the Forester guy put a 2nd hand Impreza gearbox in his car.

One code one box

thanks guys - I bought the box and the story became clear.

He bought a damaged Impreza Turbo to use the engine in a Forester S.
Because the gear ratios are different, he kept his existing Forester gearbox, leaving him with the unused TY754VN1AA (the Impreza one) which I bought.

I picked it up last night and dropped it off to the workshop this morning. I can't wait to get the car on the road.
