Rather than go OT on the latest wrong wheel drive thread I thought I would start a new thread.

So who or what decides "fun", personally "getting the back end out" on a roundabout isnt my idea of fun TGP's can be a giggle but I normally have more fun baiting people then letting them hoon off like idiots racing themselves.

I do however reall enjoy a good blast round the twisties and shock of all shocks I love doing so in my FWD car, I actually like the way it scrabbles for grip as it pulls you round the corner before lurching down the next straight bit, At the same time I also love taking the RWD out for a good hoon and the way the back end hunkers down if you plant the loud pedal.

However I dont do trackdays and dont get drawn into stupid B road chases/races so I can hand on heart say I have as much fun in my FWD car as I do in my RWD car.

Am I wrong?
Do I have to agree that only RWD can be fun?.

Should I hand in my membership card and go join boringdrivers-r-us.com

It doesn't matter if it is FWD, RWD or AWD (let's not get into semantics over that one though please!) it should always be fun unless the car, regardless of driven wheels has had all the fun taken out of it by nanny electronics , stupidly over speced tyres and set-up.

To me it's the difference between a BJ and sex. Okay I know which I'd rather most the time but let's face it both are good in their own right!

In all fairness my corrado VR6, golf GTI mk1 and 205GTI were all cracking drives that I felt comfortable hooning at silly speeds. I prefer rear wheel drive in the 911 as it feels more uncorrupted and demands a little more concentration that when you get it right it sooo much more fulfilling that I prefer it. Don't get me wrong though a good FWD car is still a riot and maybe for the masses a little safer as understeer is easier to deal with than oversteer IMO.

TBH I am questioning what I thought was fun. I used to think it was getting the back end out and controlling it (which is fun, of course) but then perhaps just driving on the limit in a Micra where you think it could roll over could be fun if fun is about excitement brought about by the perceived danger. (All driving done on a track.)
