any advise for best methods of using trolley jack and where to place it on car exactly......i am thinking ground clearance problems may require me to put the corner in question on a curb with the other 3 wheels on the road to give enough clearance to position my trolley jack

Alternatively run it up onto some boards etc to get it up to the height you need. At the front put a substantial piece of flat board under the wishbone and place the jack so the saddle is in line with where the spring fits to the lower wishbone. At the rear you can do the same close to where the upright attaches to the lower wishbone, or if the jack won't reach jack it up under the rear corner of the cockpit, again using the board to spread the load.

Really though a cheap Halfords jack (even if its weight capacity is more than adequate) is not suitable for this type of car (being too short and with too high a saddle), so be careful or better still, buy a proper one like the low entry units described in the other thread.

The one I mostly use is a full size trolley jack designed for lifting LandRovers etc, it will reach right under the diff. If the car is a bit too low to get it under I use a low entry to raise it til when the big one will fit.

Under diff at rear, under a chassis rail at front, the cars that light if your jack is to tall just ease it up by hand and slide it under, you should be able to list it an inch by hand with little effort
