Hi - I'm about to join the ranks of MX5anboys, this weekend hopefully :-)
I've found a car I'm really interested in - secured it until Saturday, got insurance quote ready to purchase etc. SWIM has done an askMid check and it shows up as uninisured - fair enough, but I also checked the DVLA website and the car is listed as having a 9999cc engine. The advert lists it as a 1.6 so is this something I should worry about, or just the DVLA being themselves? I feel like I can't really say to the seller "I've checked it out with the DVLA etc" so I wanted your thoughts. Otherwise the car looks brilliant - best colour (MB), no rust (it's a Eunos) and really clean & tidy from the photos, along with very low mileage (approx 90,000). In short, I don't want anything to dampen my enthusiasm!

Cheers.

I would correct the DVLA and call them before you buy it.

Dont worry it is a common fault with imports, especially grey ones, they also make mistakes with brand new cars by making a Audi A4 an Audi A5 cabriolet. You can tell them what has happened and see what they say but I know years ago they used to say that they dont make mistakes, and that was that.

Its best to just let them know then its out of your hands. At least it will never come back to haunt you.
