Accident claim companies

Had a call a few hours ago from an accident claim type company.
They called me up about an incident from about 3 years ago when I used to own an MR2. Basically, a neighbour opposite drove into my car when it was parked up and drove off. Luckily I drove off after them and a Ford Focus can not loose an MR2 - got her to pull over and all she said was "I was going to turn around I just needed a roundabout!"
Anyway, this accident type company called me up asking me loads of details, at first I was confused, then I thought someone had used my details, but I clicked then and I started strining him along towards the end of the call, after I'd been saying how badly the car was smashed up etc for a few minutes, he goes:
What injuries did you sustain sir?
psychological ones seeing my pride and joy messed up like that
No really, what injuries did you sustain sir?
None atall, I was not in the car and it was about 3 years ago now mate
BEEP
He soon hung up
Why/how/where would he get my number from 3 years ago for an accident that was settled straight away through the guilty parties insurance with no dispute and when there was no injury claim in the first place!?
