My MK3 Ibiza Cupra
Discussion
right.
thought i'd share this on here, prepare for alot of pictures, i've had it 10 months now!
JULY 09
bought these:

and this to fit them on:

77k on the clock, 5 owners (seems pretty normal for these!), with Weitec GTN kit, powerflow exhaust and a "map".
book all stamped, straight car, just needed some tlc to keep it at its best.
it was serviced and had cambelt and waterpump changed just to be safe, and a new wiper mech.
AUG 09:
factory 16" alloys had bald tyres, so on went some 15" compomotive MO's i had kicking about:

these were too small, but needs must.
bought some new plates to get rid of the nasty chav-spec ones:

went into the body shop for some tidying up, a few styling tweaks and a new windscreen:

also got the standard wheels refurbed @ BJV Engineering:

came out the bodyshop, fitted the wheels:

a friend helped wind down the coils on the front:

then i went to ED38 '09, and propmptly killed the week-old front splitter:

SEPT 09
Fitted some pads an discs up front after warping the set on there:

then hit Players 09:

OCT 09:
tried on some wheels:

got some polybushing done:

full front powerflex kit:
Wishbone front bushes
Wishbone rear bushes
ARB to wishbone bushes
ARB bushes
ARB eye bolt bushes
all tracked an laser aligned.
DEC 09
Split my 3-piece wheels:

JAN 10:
Forge 007p vs factory recirc:

swapped one crappy air filter for another i had kicking about:

adapters turned up!:

Poly Engine mounts:

old vs new:

Mar 10:
gave it one of several washes to start breaking down the tar that had built up from resurfacing the road i use for work every day:

chose a colour for the centre of my splits:

FMIC turned up:

APR 10:
car got pro detailed by Aaron @ Autobliss:

finished bootlid:

started putting my wheels together:

MAY 10:
car went on some local rollers, RDS Autoclinic:

made 180bhp. ish. the ECU cant decide if it wants to run the dodgy chip, or the factory map. great.
put wheels together some more:

fitted wheels:

and thats it! up to date!
got powerflex rear beam bushes and exhaust bushes coming, and some work on the arches.

Nice very clean Cupra, but I'm not into "da bling meself", preferring the black wheels.
wheels are a "marmite mod" they divide opinion. Black was a safe option, but I watched too many drift videos of plain coloured cars on bright wheels! I love the contrast, and the gold I went for changes shade in different lights.Got to roll the arches next and trim back the arch liners, then get my FMIC on.

I do liked most of the wheels fitted except the baby blue ones, are you putting centre caps on the current ones?
they are on in the last pics!i thought the wheels would be too "show" for PH, but i like them!
engine wise, next up is fitting the FMIC and asorted pipework, standard airbox with ramair from old smic intake, then fixing the ECU.

Sorry but bike plates to replace 'nasty chav ones'?
Too funny!
I didn't run a front one at all for 6 months!!!Too funny!
Neither are true bike size, the rear is import and the front is 8x6 or 7.
I much prefer them to the "3D" ones with SEAT surrounds that came with the car. Much cleaner looking.
I just need to get the rear recess shortened to match the removed front.
had the splits on for 2 weeks, so decided last weekend to risk driving down to plymouth with them on...
...resulted in my car coming back on a 3.5t truck with 2 flat fronts... got leaks through the bolts either side of the valve...
black wheels back on, tempted to sort the leak an sell on the splits for a set of these:
http://www.comp.co.uk/wheels/popup.asp?wheel=225
in 8x17 flavour... much less work than looking after splits...
if anyone is interested in the PIAA's they are 16x7.5's 4x114.3 ET44 CB of 72mm, with 20mm and 30mm adapters in 4x100, 57.1mm to 4x114.3, 56mm and 56-72mm spigot rings.
the adapters are at 56mm to suit all jap centre bores.
reply here and i'll message my details.
