Hi,

I've recently bought a 335i saloon on a 56 plate from BMW. When I collected it I took a BMW CD changer with me (that I had removed from my E60 M5) and asked them to connect it up to the socket in the boot and then recode the stereo to work with it.

They messed around for a long time and after a good few hours told me the reprogram hadn't worked, no reasons why.

The car is going back to them for some other work and I really want the CD changer enabled, does anybody have any suggestions as to why it wouldn't work? The car had been updated to the latest version of it's software, the headunit plays MP3 discs etc, etc... just the CD changer doesn't show and the cable in the boot is dead (ie not connected to the fibre optic loop).

Thanks!!

Have they moved the most connectors that sit in the network block??

If you pull the rear seat bolster out, on the passenger side, you will see a load of fibre optic cables going into a big block, as you add kit you need to move these cables within the block to hook them into the loop.

Until this is done, and done properly, their coding machine will not talk to the cd changer.

Hi,

Yes they said they had done that... it's going back next week for some more work done so I might fit the changer myself before it goes back and then they can reprogram it!

If the changer is there that's all they need isn't it? The guy was going on about the changer has to be from a car with the same options, bluetooth etc, etc but I think he's talking a load of c**p. A changer is a changer and it fits on the fibre optic loop just like any other device?

Cheers
