Erm, he did get away with it?

"In addition to the suspended sentence and community service, chairman of the bench Stanley Wilson also ordered that Mitha should pay £270 prosecution costs"

Hardly lesson learnt.

Lol.

He used to be into drugs, but now he's a successful business man, that employs lots of his old cronies. But it's all legit...

Right...
If it wasn't so fked up it would be hilarious.

This makes me sick to the stomach. In 2005 I was caught by a camera van on a clear Sunday morning doing 86mph in a 50. Hardly any traffic, I'd given it all the beans off a roundabout and at the time was driving something which got to those speeds pretty quickly. Sure, it was illegal and over the limit.

BUT - it was my first driving offense since I had started driving. I was fully insured, car fully legal, have no shady past, work for my money (which at the time I was not earning a huge amount of), pay my taxes etc etc.

My punishment for that was a 330 pound fine, around 50 in court costs and 6 points on my licence. Lesson learnt and calmed down a lot since then.

This fella had a smaller fine for driving whilst disqualified AND without insurance. He has the gall to claim he was "confused" and didn't know he shouldn't be driving AND the audacity to joke in court that he should pay 50 quid a month.

Urine at steaming point now. WHY do the powers that be let these morons get away with things like this? WHY???

Doesn't seem fair does it. Quite often the severity of the punishment seems proportional to the cost of the defence lawyer rather than the nature of the offence.

Some people just know how to play the system. For the most of us that have never had experiance with being prosecuted and the like, we have no chance!

It does make you wonder doesn't it, perhaps the judge and jury use some of the defendents 'business services.' Its when you hear examples of what you did and the punishment you got and other people i know have had larger fines for less significant abuse of the law to that you have to question how the crime vs punishment system works.

The problem appears to be that once you have been banned once you have nothing left to lose so it makes no odds if you continue to drive and face another ban as its just an extension of an existing one, it doesnt seem to prevent them driving in the slightest.

Just for the audacity of asking to pay in installments like it was all some sort of big funny game I'd have had his Aston confiscated, sold and the proceeds given to charity.
