My bog standard 52 plate corolla has 2 problems at the moment looking for any help or advice.

Firstly when i take sharp corners at low speeds i get a crack i can hear and feel through the steering wheel. Most likely my CV joint. I'm going to have a look at it myself first chane i get to take it to my mates pit. Does anyone have any experience with the problem as it's not that uncommon.

The other problem is when i turn left it sounds like my pads are making contact and are squeeling. Not when i brake, just whenever i make any significant left turn. I took my wheel off and cleaned what i could with a wire brush and air compressor, still the problem there. I can't get to the pads due to siezed bolts.

It's only covered 57k miles and i got new pads on it 10 months ago.

It's due a service and M.O.T within the next 2 months and I have planned to replace it in August, once I had a fair chunk in the bank for something fun, but if need be I can replace it soon so does anyone have any idea what to do to minimise my costs for repairing these faults or might it be worth considering getting shot of it should it need work?
