But you can assign it to a brand new car, giving it the appearance of being older which is ok.
What you can't do is to place it on a car older than the plate, for example a '93 L registered vehicle. If you did, that would make the car look younger which is not allowed.

no, he is right. You can put an older registration on a newer car, but not vice versa. ie - you cant make an older car appear newer.

So the plate can be put on an M reg or NEWER
