As the title suggests, my 320d is approaching 60k and I was wondering if there is anything I should be aware of in terms of longevity of parts or anything major?

Overall there is nothing wrong with the car (tempting fate), it’s having an oil change as well as fuel filter in the next few weeks to keep on top of things.

Although the suspension does seem a bit more noticeably 'crashy' then usual being an M Sport, but id allow it that with months of pothole abuse!

September 2006 E90 320d just passing 114k. So far just standard servicing, tyres, wiper blades and front brakes. Suspension has softened up a little and a bit of stone chipping but other than that you'd never tell.

We also have a 2003 E46 with similar miles which is also ageing well.

At 60k I personally wouldn't be at all anxious.

If parts are going to fail on that engine you probably wont see it coming.

It all depends on how long you are planning on keeping it. If it is yours and your planning on keeping it for ages then I would suggest oil changes twice as often as BMW's schedule and removing the swirl flaps asap.

My dad ran a 320d to 110k with no issues, only routine servicing, tyres and brakes.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but my Dad's offered me his 2007 E90 320d which he's changing soon, and I don't know anything about them, or diesels in fact...

It will have done just under 50k miles when I get it. My experience with E36s is that the suspension starts ruining the car above about 60k to 80k - the handling suffers in a major way and they can even rub wheels into arches. This is all despite garage checks saying it's all fine. Is this the case with the 320d?

Also, what are service costs like? I've never owned or worked on a diesel before so don't know how they compare with petrol engines.

If I buy this car I'm just after an uneventful trouble free few years or comfortable motoring and carrying stuff around.

thanks.

There's more than a good chance that's what you'll have, they are very robust cars. Ours (Msport)is just on 50k and still feels tight and only cost regular servicing.

I just put new Koni FSD shocks on my E91 330d SE at 60k miles and the ride is TRANSFORMED (with non runflats of course!). Nimble and supple. A joy...

It was crashy and unbearable before.

I've got an E91 320d SE and was starting to wonder about the suspention, 80k miles and over bad (or even not so bad) roads if feels terrible. Was wondering if it was the dampers. Sounds like I should be changing them then... Anyone got any other recommendtaions as alternatives to FSD's?

Are swirl flaps a problem on the E90?

My brother had his turbo fail (320d) at about 100K, nothing else really.
