The wiper blades on the Fiesta are shocking. They just smear water, grime and bugs all over so that I can't see. When it's cold they're even worse.

I've been meaning to get round to changing them for ages, and I'm quite ashamed I haven't done so.

Anyway, are 'premium' wiper blades worth the extra?

I've been looking here - http://www.wiperblades.co.uk/ford-fiesta-1999-wipe...

Are the Bosch ones good enough to justify spending £20+ on a pair of wipers?

Also, why are some of the Bosch blades £10 each, and the others £5?

Thanks in advance.

I got a set of aero wiper blades for the Renault for a about a tenner on ebay when in Halford's they were £25 for the normal aero ones and £35 for the Bosch set.

My advice - look on ebay thumbup

I got a pair of flat wiper blades from a company called Aero Vu on ebay for £10 delivered. Had them on the car for about a year and a half now and they still work as well as new.

I reccomend Bosch retro-fit aero's. Get the part number from that site, then search for it on eBay but make sure you tick the 'search titles and descriptions' box.

Then buy them from the cheapest seller, Ignoring whatever car the listing mentions.

I got some end of line bosch ones from Halfrauds for the 206, traditional style only a lighter metal frame on them, have worked very well thus far from January.

The PIAA ones are meant to be amazing, but for a middle of the road choice I would recommend the flat ones from Wiperblades.co.uk , I had them on my last Mondeo and put them on my old man's 307, utterly brilliant.

I had flat aero ones cheap from ebay on a 307, and they were just that, cheap. Also had the flat Tesco ones on a Laguna, they were poor too.

Lot of wipers I've been talking about, but I have owned 4 cars in 15 months....

Went for some Bosch ones in the end, just ordered them off eBay.

I'm sure the value for money is fine on the PIAA blades but the price made my distinctly student wallet balk slightly biggrin

Cheers for the replies.

Usually Demon Tweeks, but last set picked up some half price in tasteless fake carbon. Google is your friend wink

Oh, and I'm a fussy bugger about seeing where I'm going so replace Bosch ones about every 3 months (when they start to get smeary; and previous to PIAA given up on all other makes than Bosch), as the PIAA ones last well over a year, they work out cheaper for me in the long run.

another vote for PIAA silicone blades 'super sporza' or something are supposed to be better for more curvy screens

used to use rain-x, which was fab but i couldn't be bothered to keep applying it - these things self apply. the best thing for clearing the water off your windscreen since the blase itself!

+1 on the Bosch aeros (flat type) - very decent on the E36.

Didn't get them on the E30 as I don't think they suit.

Yes. I had a set of Bosch blades which I gave to my housemate when I changed my car. I used them for 18 months/40k, he got another 2 years/70k out of them, and even then they were still working reasonably well.

First thing I do when I get a car is put a full set of Bosch blades on it.

Ignore the cheap EBay retro-fit flatbades, they're tripe.

Another vote here for retro-fit flat blades; got them just after all the bad weather this winter for my 9-3 Aero and they are miles better than the standard blades.

Got mine from that website above; only word of caution I will mention is make sure you measure your existing blades first. Their search funtion advised me to buy blades that were 3" too big for my windscreen; fair credit to them, they did replacement without any hassle.

Another vote for PIAA, my only reservation is that they've never seemed quite as adept at scraping bugs off the screen as normal blades, so you have to clean it 'manually' every week or so in the summer.

Camskill were doing the 'Carbon effect' PIAA wipers for £9 each a couple of months ago, they'd be perfect if you could get over the look smile
