Hi all,
For those that followed my decisions thread you will know that I took a deep breath and went for it in the end. Picking it up tomorrow
Nervous and excited in equal amounts, but overall reckon (hope) I 've done the right thing. Seems like I'm in good company on here

The big day then! Excited for ya. I had a 400 mile drive home on a rainy December morning when I bought mine; smiled all the way. One of those things you'll always remember. The day I collected mine I drove from Northwich, Cheshire to Auxerre in France, collecting a mate in Kent on the way. . . To meet several other TVR owning friends.
Best journey ever and my face hurt for days . . . Savour that first drive.

Thanks for all the messages. No, I haven't crashed it! Just got home an hour or so ago, nearly roasted alive in the hot sun, roof down of course! All good so far, the kids think its 'cool' so that's ok.
Just a couple of things - runs quite hot (90 ish), with fan cutting in an out around town, this ok?
Oil pressure around 30psi at tickover, up to 45/50 at speed - ok?
Reckon we are gonna get on just fine

If you haven't already, get Steve Heath's book on the Griffith and Chim (known on here as the "bible"). Very userful, expecially when you are new to it.

It's when the fans don't cut in you need to worry
Sounds about right to me, mine can rise to around 100 (indicated on the temp guage - so probably not exact) in traffic but the fans always cut in and out when required. I've also fitted a fan over ride switch which comes in handy.
From the chats I've had with people they all seem to run at slightly differing indicated temps, and as long as the fans cut in and out there should be nowt to worry about.
Mine runs at around 70 - 80 at pace, 85 - 90 on the move around town and towards 100 if stuck in traffic for any length of time. Fans cut in at around the 95-97 mark on my guage then cut back out again under 95. I'll tend to use the manual over ride if I can see I'm going to be sat for a while 10 - 15 minutes plus in traffic. With the fans on, the guage has sat at dead on 90 for over 45 minutes sat stationary before now.
The only time I've panicked was on the way back from Chatsworth when stuck in trafic, the temp rose to an indicated 120 after being sat for a good 30 minutes without moving !! Turns out a connection on one fan was loose thus I was running with one fan - even on over ride. Had everything checked over and no damage done luckily.
