I noticed three guys looking to the M6 northbound fomr a bridge today, two had binoculars and was taking pics with a zoom camera.

They werent dressed as plod or with cop car, wondering what they are doing? if they are plod could they be cathcing people on mobiles? if not plod then tagging number plates?

Could local car enthusiasts (car version of train spotting i.e. sit on a bridge and watch a road) or were there any car shows in your area may have been looking for cars to take pics whilst moving rather than the usual car shot in a field or car arena.

Maybe members of the press looking for a spy shot or photographers from a car magazine waiting for a club to drive by. Maybe waiting for another bunch of fuel protestors burning fuel they are saying is too expensive to use.

i went past some guys like this the other day coming onto the A1 near catterick, they had 'traffic survey' written on their vests and on the cars, though just stuck on the windows i think, not properly liveried

were there with deckchairs so i assume they were at it all day, some kind of national thing if it was on the m6 too?

Wasnt a traffic survey. I'm thinking of either a new way of catching those on mobiles, or taking numbers for false plates or ringers if not legit

Saw traffic survey guys at that silly junction in Rusholme today. The one that has separate traffic lights for the bus and car lanes, and lets about twice as many buses as cars through on each cycle.

I sincerely hope they've identified it as an artificially-created bottleneck and are looking at ways of improving it.

Could have been truck spotters?

I remember that spotting Eddie Stobart trucks was a pastime a few years back. My mate lived near the M6 and he enjoyed spotting their trucks. There was quite a big fan club too.
