Help me work it out & sell it to the Wife
Discussion
I'm hunt for a manual V8V roadster 70-80k budget
I keep coming back to this one
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1702664.htm
which is above that I'm trying to convince the other half it is worth the extra
It seems to be well loaded but I cannot work out by how much
Your help would be much appreciated!
Anyone care to help put a figure to these:
Quantum Silver paint
Powerfold mirrors
Tyre pressure monitoring
Blue tooth
HDD Satellite navigation system
Sports Pack with 10 Spoke Forged Alloy wheels
Bright finish grille
700W Aston Martin Premium Audio System
N400 sills
Magnum meshes
Clear Rear Lamps
Auto dimming mirror
Alarm upgrade
Lightweight seats with six-way adjustment
F&R Parking sensors

And your question is???
Roadsters appear to be rare as hens teeth judging by other posts. I had a budget of £65,000 and spent £80,000 plus for what I knew I really wanted. I saw loads but my car spoke to me. I reckon thats where you are at.
The car you are considering looks very well specced.
You know you want it

Do what I done, buy it tell the other half that you have it on a weekend extended break, drive it and take her somewhere nice over the weekend.
Then when you tell her that you have to take it back she says:- Why can't we keep it" job done for me, as previous go for it.
I would question the dealer re the sportspack suspension and wheels (10 spoke) as the picture shows the 19" 20 spoke fitted.

What stands out to me is the three things that are not usually specified as in the n400 sills, clear rear lamps and the magnum grille kit, these alone depending on who you chose to buy from and have fitted would be somewhere between £3500 and £5000 plus just about every conceivable option, barely run in, My advice if it feels right it usually is,

two ways of answering this:-

Powerfold mirrors £251.06
Tyre pressure monitoring included in base price
Blue tooth £510.64
HDD Satellite navigation system £1489.36 (fk me thats an expensive for crap!)
Sports Pack with 10 Spoke Forged Alloy wheels £846.81 (19" 7 spoke)
Bright finish grille £251.06
700W Aston Martin Premium Audio System £846.81
N400 sills sorry dont have them
Magnum meshes sorry dont have them
Clear Rear Lamps dont have them but I think ~£1100
Auto dimming mirror dont have it
Alarm upgrade dont have it
Lightweight seats with six-way adjustment £251.06 for heated front seats, £165.96 for seat height adjuster

18 months ago my wife was enraged when I suggested that I was thinking about a DB9.
Now she freely admits that she was wrong. She still doesn't quite "get it", but she admits that I come in with an enormous grin after every drive. She now says that it was "worth it", even if she doesn't know why.
(At this point I asked my wife to read what I had written. I also asked her to comment. She is a bit shy, and declined. However, she agreed with all of the above.)
Show this post to your wife. She might understand the feelings of my wife.
I don't, but I do know that my wife would not be happy at all if I had to sell the Aston. The obvious pleasure that I get from driving it seems to make her happy too.

Regarding the car you're interested in, the advert seems to simply list the standard equipment and optional equipment, e.g., the sound system (160W and 700W). From the pics, it looks like it does have the lightweight seats (based on the stitching), but not the Sports Pack. It seems odd that it would have the Sports Pack, but that the dealer would then remove the Sports Pack wheels and install the standard wheels, but I guess one never knows.
Sweet car regardless -- good luck with your decision, and your wife...

Quantum silver paint is a cost option of £1800 on the Vantage - its standard on DBS only so you can add that to your justification if you want!!why do you need the wife's OK- are you a man of PH or a mouse!

You need to know what her objection would actually be and face that full on. If it is about money, then what else does she want to spend it on? If there is nothing then buy the car.
I had the opposite problem, my wife has never objected to me buying a car and is the one who convinces me to buy when I hesitate. Her argument is that it's not like I will lose all the money, I can always sell the car (yeah right!) and get most of it back should we need it.
It's a good point she raises - you aren't throwing that money away, just converting it into something MUCH more fun for a period of time.

DSLiverpool - AFAIK the seats are Recaro Pole Positions trimmed to AM spec, I've had them in a car and liked them, more lateral grip for corners
Speedraser - yep I spotted it seems to be a list of standard and all options even more confusing!
Glynmo - stop putting temptation in the way
BTW went into Stratstone Houghton le Spring to look at a Metorite Silver manual, it sold in 4 hours before I could get to it Ended up test driving a sport shift Onyx black one. I was amazed how good sport shift is! Not keen on black but at least I can now look at sport shifts as well
Saw Lightning Silver in the flesh
Tried the afore mentioned sports seats
climbed all over the 4.7 interior - prefer it to the 4.3

I've had my V8V 4.3 for just over 2 years and absolutely love it - as does my wife. The other thing that I have found is that the staff at my local dealership are really good and nice (cringe) to deal with. When things haven't quite worked out they make such an effort to put things right - customer service is 1st Class!
I'm now seriously contemplating an upgrade to a new 4.7 Special Edition - http://www.astonmartin.com/thecars/v8vantage/v8van...
Seems to have all the right bits on it (apart from the QuickSilver exhaust - which will just transfer over!)
