That's surprising and disappointing mate.
Every website certainly seems to imply the 5575 caliper fits under 18" and 19" OEM wheels.

I was a little confused when I read the AP site, and luckily I decided a trial fit was in order before I started breaking fluid seals and what not.Every website certainly seems to imply the 5575 caliper fits under 18" and 19" OEM wheels.

Mine are definitely the 5575 kit, and if you have a look at this drawing from the AP site, the key dimension to look at is the 20mm dimension from the rear of the disc bell (hub face) to the front of the new rotor.

Now compare to the 5555 kit which is only offset by 16mm back from the hub face to the braking surface. Open two windows side by side (or print scale 1:1 and overlay), and you can see that it is the 5575 that gives the best clearance behind the spokes as measured from the hub face.

It is a bit naughty of the AP datasheet to list the brakes as fitting behind the OEM wheels, without mentioning that they need spacers.
Do you run yours with 19" CSL rims normally, or the shiny shiny 19" rims? I've heard that the latter need spacers too.
I went for 12mm each side as I wanted to provide ample clearance, and realistically you're not doing to get away with much below 10mm. Using high quality hubcentric items, this is not a problem at all, and mine carry TUV approval (Eibach). As also mentioned, the handling is improved too IMO.

yep they should do UNLESS your tyre fitter has put the weights in the wrong place

Maybe not the "wrong" place for a standard setup, however certainly not right behind the spokes on the flat inside circumference. Clearance really is that tight.

I run the CSL's normally, so haven't had any issues so far. I don't intend to ever put the bling bling 19's back on until I sell the car really.I have the 18" wheel available now, so I'll have to check tonight and see what spacers I need. (Although 12mm sounds like the obvious choice)
